An interesting issue of Sulayman II as Malik

ISLAMIC, Seljuks. Rum. Rukn al-Din Sulayman II, as Malik, AH 589-592 / AD 1193-1196. Dirham (Bronze, 32 mm, 7.69 g, 9 h), uncertain mint (Tokat?). Facing nimbate horseman galloping to right within dotted circle, holding mace over his right shoulder; in left field, six-pointed star. Rev. Legend in three lines and extended antler within dotted circle. Broome 39 Bv(iii). An attractive example with beautiful earthen highlights. Minor areas of weakness, otherwise, good very fine.

This type was issued by Sulayman II shortly after the death of his father Qilich Arslan II, when he was still a Malik (prince). Some years later, Sulayman II expelled his brother Kay Khusraw and became the sole ruler of the Rum Sultanate
